Are there really no good men out there?
Maybe you met someone and the conversation felt easy. A couple of dates in, and you feel as though this one might actually have legs. This could actually be something worth your while!
Then the messages slowed, the plans became vague, and he suddenly became less available. He ended it, or he disappeared. Except, not really... somehow he is still on your socials, watches every post or reel and is actually still very visible in your life. Just not with you!
Maybe you have reinstalled the apps, updated your profile, promised yourself you would keep an open mind, and felt that little flicker of optimism quietly disappear again by the end of the week.
Or perhaps you are newly single after years away from dating and cannot quite work out when meeting someone became this complicated.
You are not bitter. You are not asking for perfection. You are simply tired of investing in things that keep quietly running out of road.
On the harder nights, it is easy to start wondering whether the problem is the apps, the men, the city you live in or, somehow, you.
Here's what no one's telling you.
The answer is not a better profile, lower standards or a cleverer text message.
The dating world has changed, and so has the way people think, meet, choose, invest and quietly end relationships.
My hope is that this guide gives you the context to understand why it keeps happening, and what it might be telling you about the men you're meeting.
There are good men everywhere...
Dating used to grow out of shared environments, mutual friends and repeated contact. You had time to notice how someone behaved, how they treated people and who they were before either of you decided there might be something romantic there.
Now, much of dating happens on a phone. Endless choice makes it easier to keep looking. Social media makes it possible to leave without fully leaving. And an entire online industry has become very good at offering lonely men simple answers to complicated pain.
None of that excuses poor behaviour.
It does, however, help explain why modern dating can feel so confusing, and why taking every vague man personally will eventually exhaust you.
Once you understand the landscape, you can read what is in front of you more clearly. You can stay open without becoming naive, protect yourself without becoming hard, and be picky about the things that actually matter.
Because the way we meet people shapes the way we value them.
By the time you finish this little guide, you will...
Stop taking every disappointing experience so personally
You will understand the bigger shifts that have changed dating, including the apps, endless choice, visibility without accountability and the darker side of modern dating advice for men.
Read the man, not just the profile
You will know why ownership, presence, consistency and the way he responds when things do not go his way tell you far more than a polished profile ever will.
Recognise the four broad types of men you are likely to meet
You'll learn to recognise the difference between a man who simply isn't ready, one who may never be, one who has lost his way, and one who is genuinely worth finding.
Not as labels, but as a clearer way to see where he is today, before you invest too much time hoping he becomes someone else.
Understand one of dating's most important distinctions
There is a difference between a man who is not ready yet and a man who may never be ready. Recognising it earlier can save you a great deal of confusion, time and unnecessary self-doubt.
Rethink where the good men might actually be
You will look at your routines, your social circles and the places you spend your time, then ask whether your current week is creating any real opportunity to meet someone different.
Feel more hopeful without lowering your standards
The goal is not to convince yourself that every man deserves a chance. It is to recognise the right one when he appears, even if he looks a little different from what you expected.
A small guide for a very big question.
I wrote Where Have All The Good Men Gone? after more than twenty years of coaching, studying and talking about dating.
Not to defend men.
Not to blame women.
And definitely not to give you another formula for getting the guy.
I wrote it because there is something happening in the world of men that most dating advice either ignores or reduces to a lazy stereotype. Once you understand it, a great deal of what has felt confusing may start to make sense.
This guide gives you that context in about ten minutes.

I have spent more than twenty years hearing both sides of the same story.
I coached men first. Most were not players or bad people. They were nervous, lonely and genuinely decent men who felt as though everyone else had been given a map they had somehow missed.
Later, I coached women and heard the other side of many of those same experiences. The ghosting. The vagueness. The men who wanted connection until it became real. The exhausting feeling of trying to work out what had changed.
I have lived the messier parts of relationships too. Becoming a dad to a little girl has made me think even more carefully about the men, relationships and standards I want her to grow up around and one day expect for herself.
That is why my approach is not about scripts, tricks or blame. It is about understanding yourself, understanding the people you are meeting, and learning to recognise what genuine connection actually looks like.

One last note from me...
I cannot promise you a man in five steps. Nobody can, and the people who say they can are usually selling you something that does not work.
This guide will not tell you to become less independent, pretend not to care, wait three hours before replying or make yourself smaller so someone else feels more comfortable.
What I can give you is context. The kind that helps the last few years make a little more sense, gives you a clearer way to read the men in front of you and reminds you that disappointment does not have to turn into cynicism.
That might not sound as exciting as a secret formula.
It is far more useful.
Give me about ten minutes. Read the guide with an open mind, then decide what you want to take with you.
Go and be picky.
Just make sure you are being picky about the right things.
